Outside linebacker Demorrio Williams was one of Sunday’s first selections, as the Atlanta Falcons tabbed Williams with the fifth pick of the fourth round and the 101st overall selection of the 2004 draft. Williams led Nebraska in tackles for loss and sacks last season on his way to first-team All-Big 12 honors. He was also a semifinalist for the 2003 Butkus Award.

Husker quarterback Jammal Lord was the second Nebraska player selected on Sunday. The Houston Texans tabbed the 6-2, 220-pound Lord as a safety in the sixth round (175th pick overall). Lord is the third Husker quarterback in the last seven seasons selected at a different position in the draft, joining Scott Frost (1998, S) and Eric Crouch (2002, WR). Center Josh Sewell was also taken in the sixth round, as the 190th overall pick by the Denver Broncos.

Two Huskers were taken in the seventh and final round of the draft. Defensive tackle Ryon Bingham was the third pick of the seventh round by the San Diego Chargers and the 204th overall selection in the draft. Defensive end Trevor Johnson rounded out the quintet of Huskers picked on Sunday when the New York Jets called his name with the 234th overall selection in the seventh round.

The 2004 draft marks the 25th consecutive year the Huskers have had at least three players selected in the NFL Draft.
