Los Angeles, Calif. ? Two Huskers competed in the NCAA Individual Event Finals on Saturday evening at Pauley Pavilion. Freshman Kristi Esposito tied for third place on the balance beam (9.90), and senior Libby Landgraf closed out her NU career with a 11th-place finish on the uneven bars (9.75), as both were first-team All-Americans.
“I am proud of the way they both competed. I was impressed with Kristi coming in and capturing third place on the balance beam,” Head Coach Dan Kendig. “We are so proud of what Libby has accomplished in her career at Nebraska, and she will be missed next year.”
On the balance beam, Esposito posted a 9.90, tying for third place in the event with Elise Ray of Michigan, as Ashley Kelly of Arizona State posted a 9.95 to win the individual NCAA title and Jeana Rice of Alabama took second place (9.913). Esposito, a two-time All-American received four 9.90s, one 9.95 and one 9.80 from the six-judge panel.
Landgraf, who competed with the second group of competitors on the uneven bars, scored a 9.75 and took 11th place. The six-time All-American received two 9.80s, two 9.75s and two 9.70s from the six-judge panel. Elise Ray of Michigan posted a 9.975 to win the individual NCAA title on the uneven bars.
