Lincoln -- Nebraska Head Football Coach Bill Callahan finalized his staff today when he announced the hiring of Aaron Stamn as a graduate assistant coach.
Stamn will work with the defense, assisting defensive line coach John Blake. Stamn comes to Nebraska from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, where he served as a graduate assistant coach the past two years. In 2002, Stamn assisted with the defensive line and outside linebackers as the Huskies ranked third in rush defense in Division II and posted a 9-2 record. In 2003, Stamn helped coach the linebackers, including SCSU's top two tacklers as St. Cloud finished 7-4. In the summer of 2003, Stamn served as a summer camp assistant for Kevin Cosgrove at Wisconsin.
"We are pleased to have Aaron join our staff," Coach Callahan said. "He is a bright young football mind and will be a great asset to Coach Cosgrove and our defensive staff."
"This is an outstanding opportunity for myself and my family," Stamn said. "I am looking forward to working with this excellent Nebraska coaching staff. It is an exciting opportunity to not only coach some of the best athletes in the nation, but to help build a national championship team.".
Stamn is enrolled in graduate studies at UNL and at the same time, is finishing a master's degree in sports management from St. Cloud State.
While working as a student assistant coach, Stamn earned his undergraduate degree in physical education with a minor in coaching from Minnesota State University-Mankato in 2002. He served as an offensive line assistant coach during the 2000 season and assisted with the defensive backs in 2001.
Married to the former Courtney Skelton, the Stamn's have two sons Rylan (4) and Jackson (1).
