Spring Break Tour of Excellence Dates Set

Lincoln ? While many college students head to the warmer climates during spring break later this month, several University of Nebraska student-athletes will be visiting schools throughout the state during the Nebraska Tour of Excellence, set for March 15 to 18.

The seven-stop, six-city tour will make stops in Chadron, Sidney, North Platte, Kearney, Grand Island and Hastings during its four-day run, taking its positive messages about education, life skills and decision-making to middle and elementary schools around the state.

The list of speakers includes current and former Husker athletes, including football players Garth Glissman, Kurt Mann and Sandro DeAngelis, gymnast Jess Wertz and cross country runner Ian Gray. In addition, the group also includes 2003 Miss Nebraska Jane Noseworthy, members of the Husker Yell Squad and ?Lil Red. Other Husker student-athletes will join the tour for specific tour stops.

"We have an impressive group of student-athletes for this Tour of Excellence," said Keith Zimmer, Nebraska’s Director of Life Skills. "We are also thrilled to have Miss Nebraska assist with our outreach efforts along with the ever popular Lil’ Red and Husker Yell Squad members."

The "Tour of Excellence" concept started in 1994 in effort to take role-model student-athletes and campus leaders across the state of Nebraska.
