The University of Nebraska swimming and diving team placed eight athletes on the academic All-Big 12 teams announced recently.
NU placed seven team members on the first team including sophomores Emily Becker (Veterinary Science), Amie Buoy (International Business), Kate Dulgar (Elementary Education), Esmie Holderman (Biological Sciences), Becky Johnson (Undeclared), Alex King (Chemical Engineering) and Rachel Schlatter (Undeclared) while sophomore Mackenzie Clark earned a spot on the second team. All are first-time members of the academic All-Big 12 teams.
Academic All-Big 12 first-team members must have maintained a 3.2 to 4.0 grade-point average. Those honored on the second team earned 3.0 to 3.19 grade-point averages.
In order to qualify, the student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.00 grade point average or better either from the two previous semesters or as a cumulative grade point average and has to have participated in at least 60 percent of the team’s scheduled events. Seniors who have participated in the sport for a two-year minimum and meet all the criteria except participation are eligible for the academic All-Big 12 teams. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year.
