Budapest, Hungary -- Three-time NCAA shot put champion Carl Myerscough took a seventh-place finish Sunday in the 2004 IAAF Indoor World Championships with a throw of 67-2 in Budapest, Hungary.
Competing for Great Britain, Myerscough improved on every throw of the finals, with the exception of fouls on his second and fifth attempts.
Former Big 12 rival Christian Cantwell won the World Championship title with a toss of 70-6 ? for the United States.
Myerscough will return to the U.S. to try and win his third consecutive NCAA Indoor shot put title for the Nebraska track and field team next weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Hambleton, England, native currently leads the NCAA with his throw of 68-7 ? which he set at the Big 12 Indoor Championships on Feb. 28.
Several other Huskers will wait until Monday night to find out if they will join Myerscough in Fayetteville for the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships. Ten Huskers have already assured themselves a trip to the national championships with NCAA automatic-qualifying performances.
