Elmwood Park, N.J. ? The Nebraska bowling team finished in second place at the NCAA Northeast Challenge at Parkway Lanes Sunday afternoon.
Nebraska finished the three-day tournament with a 9-6 mark after going 3-2 during Sunday’s round, finishing behind Fairleigh Dickinson, which won the tournament with a 12-3 record. Sacred Heart tied NU for second with a 9-6 record, but the Huskers won the tiebreaker. New Jersey City University finished fourth with a 7-8 record, while North Carolina A&T was fifth at 6-9.
The Huskers were led by Amanda Burgoyne, who averaged a 212 in posting her third top-five finish of the season. The freshman from Newport, Minn., was the only Husker to make the all-tournament team. Sophomore Jamie Martin also turned in a solid performance, placing 12th with a 202 average.
The Huskers will travel to the Birmingham Invitational next weekend, Nebraska’s final regular-season tournament before the NCAA Championships, April 8-10.
