Dallas, Texas -- Senior right-hander Peaches James was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 17, the league office announced Tuesday.
James went 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA in 19.2 innings at last weekend's UNLV Classic. Her two victories came against No. 10 Michigan (5-4) and No. 12 DePaul (10-2). James collected 29 strikeouts at the tournament, including 14 in a 1-0 loss to Oregon State, the second highest total of her career.
A three-time first-team All-Big 12 selection, James ranks among the best pitchers ever at NU. To date, she is in the top 10 of every major career pitching record at Nebraska. James is fourth all-time in victories (63), seventh in winning percentage (.677), fifth in innings pitched (638.2), eighth in ERA (1.44), fourth in strikeouts (580), fifth in shutouts (25), fifth in saves (nine), fifth in complete games (31) and tied for sixth in complete game no-hitters (one).
Texas shortshop Amber Hall was named the Big 12 Player of the Week.
