Lincoln -- With the season opener two weeks away, the staff of HuskersNside has announced its broadcast plans for the upcoming season.
HuskersNside will be the place to follow the Huskers throughout the 2004 campaign, as Head Coach Mike Anderson and the Huskers make their bid for a sixth straight NCAA Regional and third College World Series appearance in four seasons.
The following are some of the features this spring, as HuskersNside will bring fans unsurpassed coverage of the Nebraska baseball program.
After broadcasting nearly 50 games last spring, HuskersNside will carry nearly every game ? both home and away in 2004. From the Feb. 20th opener against Northwestern through conference play, HuskersNside will bring live video streaming to your desktop. All of the games currently scheduled are denoted with a *, but could be subject to change because of conflicts with the Big 12’s television rights holders. Other games listed with a *-Delay will be shown on a delayed basis, while other games could be added, depending on the facility’s availability to stream live Internet video.
In addition, HuskersNside will provide extensive highlight packages from the road, including interviews with NU coaches and players, which will be available following every trip this season. All of the highlights and video-on-demand will be available shortly following each road series, giving fans an up-close look at the Big Red.
When the Huskers are at home and you can't come out to Hawks Field, enjoy nearly every pitch at your desktop, as almost every regular-season home game will be video streamed live from Hawks Field. From the home opener with Western Illinois on March 16 to all the Big 12 action, including games against Texas A&M and Oklahoma, HuskersNside will be your exclusive home for Husker baseball.
In addition, the site will have highlights and interviews with coaches and players following each game. While newscasts can only show between 30-45 seconds of highlights and interviews, HuskersNside packages will include every major play along with extensive interviews of players and coaches.
From the start of practice and throughout the season, HuskersNside will be there with player interviews and features, reports from practice as well as the Husker Baseball Show with Mike Anderson, a half hour weekly series devoted to NU baseball that begins in March. In addition, Husker coaches and players will be on-line for chats with fans throughout the year.
All of the offerings are set up for broadband (Cable Internet, DSL or Satellite Internet) connections, providing video steams at anywhere from 300 to 750 kbps for subscribers. There are currently two ways to sign up for the service - a monthly rate of $9.95 per month and a special annual rate of $84.95 if you sign up by Feb. 29, by logging on to Huskers.com. The first 100 subscribers who sign up for the baseball package will receive an insulated travel mug with the HuskersNside logo.
This would give you access to HuskersNside through February of 2005, which would cover the rest of the winter and spring sports, as well as the 2004 Husker football season. The special is also $15 off the usual rate of $99.95, and less than seven dollars per month.
HuskersNside is a joint venture between the University of Nebraska Athletic Department and Omaha-based New Media Networks, LLC., Currently, New Media Networks handles Internet sites and video streaming for seven schools, including six in the Big 12. For more on HuskersNside, go to Huskers.com.
