Pederson Statement on the Proposed Athletic Complex

"Tom Osborne’s contributions to the game of college football are unmatched. The fact that he is one of only two coaches to be immediately inducted into the National College Football Hall of Fame is testament to his successes on the field.

"We are about to embark on building a new facility at Nebraska, one that student-athletes, coaches and fans will enjoy for decades to come. Nebraska has not seen this major facility upgrade since the Bob Devaney Sports Center was built nearly 30 years ago. It makes perfect sense to name this great facility after the greatest college football coach of all time.

"Change is not easy for anyone, particularly those directly impacted. I have dealt with situations since my arrival that have been personally very painful. These have not been easy times for any of us. I appreciate Tom’s advice that we should now try to put this behind us and move forward. I will do everything I can to make that possible for everyone."
