Lincoln -- Coming off a pair of dominant home wins, including a 204-91 victory over Southwest Missouri State on Nov. 8, the Nebraska swimming and diving team will travel to Missouri this weekend to face the No. 23 Tigers on Nov. 14, at 5 p.m. and Truman State on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m.
The Huskers will be going for their fifth dual meet win in their last six duals on Friday night. NU faced both teams last year, falling to Missouri, 228-82, in a double-dual with Texas A&M. The Huskers were also defeated last season by Truman State, 152-101.
In the all-time series against Missouri, the Huskers hold a commanding 18-4 lead. Last season’s meeting with Truman State was the first in program history. Missouri is 4-2 overall in dual action on the season, and 2-1 in the Big 12. The Tigers have defeated Kansas and Iowa State on this year, and fell to No. 17 Texas A&M.
Truman State is 0-1 in dual action on the season, as the Bulldogs fell to Missouri, 126-74, to open the season.
Missouri finished third at the Big 12 Championships last season, and the Tigers look strong again this year. Missouri’s only losses came against top-ranked Auburn, 86-53, and 17th-ranked Texas A&M, 178.5-121.5.
The Tigers match up well with the Huskers in the distance events, which has been one of NU’s strong points early in the season.
The Husker freshmen have responded well to the challenge of collegiate swimming. After three competitions, and 16 individual events contested this season (including splits), freshmen hold the top spot in seven events.
NU will follow up the Missouri swing with the Minnesota Invitational, Nov. 22-24, in Minneapolis.
