Lincoln -- Sunday's NFL games were highlighted by several outstanding performances by former Huskers on both sides of the ball, including a 100-yard game by Correll Buckhalter, and strong performances by a trio of former Husker defensive backs.
Buckhalter helped Philadelphia to a 24-17 win over the New York Jets on Sunday. Buckhalter, who had missed the entire 2002 season with a knee injury, entered the game with 99 rushing yards, but doubled the total on Sunday, getting season highs in carries (15), yards (100) and touchdowns (2) in posting his second career 100-yard game.
In Kansas City, Eric Warfield enjoyed a career night in helping the Chiefs improve to 8-0 on the season with a 38-5 win over Buffalo. Warfield had five solo tackles, including the first sack of his six-year NFL career, intercepted two passes and forced a fumble in holding the Bills without a touchdown. Kansas City's seven forced turnovers were the most by the Chief since the 1986 season.
In Pittsburgh, St. Louis Rams rookie DeJuan Groce made his first NFL start in the Rams' 33-21 win over the Steelers. Groce, who also returns punts for the Rams, had one tackle and picked off a Tommy Maddox pass for his first career interception.
In New Orleans, Mike Minter had a team-high nine tackles, including a crucial third-down stop in overtime, while Mike Rucker had five tackles, including two sacks for 11 yards, as the Carolina Panthers won their third overtime game of the season with a 23-20 win over the Saints. Rucker leads Carolina with eight sacks, including three multi-sack games this season, and ranks second in team history with 32.5 career sacks behind Kevin Greene's 41.5.
Currently, Nebraska leads all Big 12 schools with 32 former players on NFL rosters a total that ranks among the leaders for all schools.
