Lincoln ? The Nebraska football team wrapped up preparations for Saturday’s game against Iowa State with an hour and 45 minute workout in Memorial Stadium Thursday afternoon.
Nebraska Head Coach Frank Solich said the Huskers, who are ranked 14th in the AP poll and 11th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, are ready to line up against the Cyclones on Saturday in a matchup that is available on Fox Pay-Per-View.
"We are ready to play a physical game," Solich said. "That is the way the match-up has been when Nebraska and Iowa State have lined up. We are expecting that it will be a great game along those lines."
Senior punter Kyle Larson was chosen as this week’s special team’s captain. Larson averaged a season-high 49.6 yards on nine punts against Texas A&M and placed four punts inside the A&M 20-yard line. The Ray Guy Award candidate ranks 21st nationally and third in the Big 12, averaging 43.6 yards per punt this fall.
"He did an excellent job last week," Solich said. "He placed four punts inside the opponent’s 12-yard line and really helped us in gathering field position."
Solich said that except for defensive back Philip Bland and fullback DeAntae Grixby, who are out with injuries, the Huskers should be relatively healthy for Satuday.
"Everyone else is ready to go and no one else has been ruled out (for Saturday)," Solich said.
The Huskers will walk-through at 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium, with Coach Solich addressing the media before the workout. Iowa State will workout at 4:40 p.m. with Coach Dan McCarney talking before the Cyclone walk-through.
