Chancellor/Athletic Director Say Academic/Athletic Initiative Will Be Announced in November

Lincoln -- On Friday, University of Nebraska President L. Dennis Smith gave his State of the University address. In his address, he noted priorities for the future, including two initiatives on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus that will benefit academics as well as athletics. The two projects mentioned were a computer science and football facility, and a new virology research facility.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman said he and Athletic Director Steve Pederson will be prepared to publicly describe all of these facilities the week of November 3.

Pederson said, "For some time now, we have been planning a new football facility that will set this program apart from all the rest. This announcement today signals another step in that process. I appreciate the support of the President and the Chancellor in maintaining the finest facilities in college athletics."
