Huskers Battle Injuries; Continue Preparations for Aggies

Lincoln ? After being forced inside on Monday because of inclement weather, the Huskers returned outdoors Tuesday afternoon for a two-hour practice at Memorial Stadium.

"Practice today went fairly well," Solich said. "We were in full pads, and the guys moved around well. They are anxious to step forward and to prepare to play an excellent game against an excellent team."

Solich said that offensive guard Tim Green would likely not play on Saturday, while also listing junior defensive back Philip Bland as "doubtful" for Saturday's matchup with the Aggies. In addition, Solich announced that Will Linebacker Lannie Hopkins had surgery over the weekend and will be out the remainder of the season.

"We are looking to see where that would fit with the rules," Solich said on a possible medical redshirt for Hopkins. "It's not the first time he has been out with an injury, so there is a chance that something can get done, but I don't want to say that until we know the facts."

Solich also received good news on Tuesday, as defensive end Wali Muhammad began practicing this week. The junior college transfer had been sidelined since the start of fall camp with an injury, and the Husker head coach was looking forward to see what Muhammad could do.

"It was good to get him back and get him moving on course in the program," Solich said.

The Huskers will return to practice on Wednesday afternoon, which is the final day that players will be available for interviews before Saturday's game.
