Huskers Return to Drills

Lincoln -- The Huskers were forced inside Cook Pavilion on Monday, when a thunderstorm passed through Lincoln at about 4 p.m. this afternoon. Although the move slowed down practice slightly, practice was completed in about two hours in helmets and sweat clothes.

Coach Frank Solich said today's practice went well. "I thought the players responded well. We will try to learn from our mistakes?and there were many of them. We cannot have five turnovers and that many procedure calls and expect to win on the road.

"We didn't give ourselves a chance to win," Solich said. "Missouri played very well and Brad Smith had an excellent game. I thought they used the off week to their advantage. We will move forward and work to be a better football team. We need to bounce back and learn from our mistakes. We cannot dwell on this loss."

Solich said there were no serious new injuries from the game, but that the Huskers continue to be banged up and missing several players at today's practice.
