Lincoln - The Nebraska football team went through a two-hour workout in full pads on the Memorial Stadium FieldTurf on Tuesday afternoon, as the Huskers continued their preparations for Saturday's 6:10 p.m. kickoff at Missouri.
Nebraska Head Coach Frank Solich said the Huskers battled their way through a tough practice on Tuesday.
"It was all right, but they're a little tired right now," Solich said. "They pushed themselves through it. There was a lot of heavy work, so to some degree that is understandable."
Missouri will have two full weeks to prepare for the Huskers in a game that will be televised nationally by TBS. Solich said earlier in the day at Nebraska's weekly press conference that the extra week of preparation by the Tigers was a concern for the Husker coaching staff.
The No. 10 Huskers will need to be on the top of their game offensively, defensively and on special teams to knock off a solid Missouri team in Columbia. Nebraska, which is 5-0 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play, is coming off a 30-0 win over Troy State in Lincoln on Saturday, but is making just its second road trip of the season. The Tigers head into the battle with the Huskers owning a 4-1 record and hungry for a win after being knocked off by border rival Kansas in their Big 12 opener two weeks ago.
Solich said Nebraska would need to improve its execution in order to be successful against Missouri on Saturday and in the coming weeks of Big 12 Conference play.
"We need to get to where we are executing a little better on both sides of the ball than what we showed today," Solich said.
The Huskers will continue their preparations for Missouri with Wednesday's scheduled practice at 3:30 p.m.
