Husker Nation Pavilion Offers New Features for Troy State Game

Lincoln -- After drawing rave reviews the first three home games, the Husker Nation Pavilion will again be open for business three hours prior to kick on Saturday.

Nebraska hosts Troy State at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, in a game that will not be televised. The Big 12 television contracts with ABC and Fox Sports Net prohibit schools from providing closed circuit television programming of games not selected for air. While the Husker Nation Pavilion will still feature the big screen television, so that fans may watch the Big 12 games of the week, the Nebraska ? Troy State game will not be part of the programming. This rule also holds true for the Alumni Association Champions Club. The Pavilion and the Champions Club will continue to provide all the same great services and fan amenities that they have provided in the last three home games.

"We are sorry that we are not able to show this game at the Pavilion," Athletic Director Steve Pederson said, "But I'm sure that people understand the parameters of our conference television agreement. We didn't want people driving a great distance or making plans to watch at the Pavilion, only to be disappointed on Saturday. That is why we are making this announcement at this time. We're fortunate that we have such an extensive radio network that allows all of our fans statewide to listen to the game."

Each week the Husker Nation Pavilion has grown and features a variety of food vendors, live music, play areas for children and Husker athletes and coaches. This week, members of the men's and women's track and field teams will meet and greet fans in the Pavilion, while Lost and Found, a contemporary pop band will perform. In addition, the Waffleman will cook his famous waffles for fans from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Pavilion opens three hours to kickoff and is free to the public. Fans will be able to listen to the Pinnacle Sports Productions radio broadcast on loud speakers, and again be able to enjoy featured games on the big screens from across the Big 12 Conference and the country.

Fans who cannot attend the game, which is sold out, are invited to tune in to their favorite Pinnacle Sports Production Network station, or to log onto Huskers.com for the free radio broadcast via internet.
