Huskers Workout in Half Pads

Lincoln -- The Husker football team worked out in Memorial Stadium for two hours on Monday in half pads.  Coach Frank Solich said the team was in pretty good shape injury-wise, and while Will linebacker Lannie Hopkins has been ruled out of Thursday's game, Mike linebacker Barrett Ruud was back to full speed.

Solich held his weekly press conference earlier in the day and a new depth chart was released with Isaiah Fluellen making a significant jump at the wide receiver (X) position. "Isaiah has really been developing well,' Solich said.  'His speed has shown and he is catching well.  He will be used extensively."

While the Huskers will miss Thursday classes, the team will not depart Lincoln until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, allowing most players to attend all of their classes on Wednesday.  'We never want our players to miss class,' Solich said, 'but sometimes that can't be helped.  We are fortunate to have a good support staff who will work with the student-athletes at home before we leave and on the road to make other arrangements as necessary.'

Solich said as this is not a conference game, the travel roster is not limited to the 70 players as in the case of conference games.  Nebraska will most likely travel with 83 or 84 on Wednesday.

The Huskers will complete preparations for Southern Miss with a 3:30 p.m. practice on Tuesday.
