Huskers in the NFL: Week 3

Lincoln -- Several former Huskers played prominant roles, as six teams concluded Sunday's action with undefeated records in the National Football League.

In Houston, Kansas City improved to 3-0 on the season with a 42-14 win at Houston. Offensive guard Will Shields, an eight-time Pro Bowler, has been on of the main cogs in the Chief offense which is averaging an NFL best 37 points per game through three contests. He has started 162 straight games, a total that leads all NFL linemen and trails only Green Bay QB Brett Favre (176) and Oakland WR Tim Brown (164). Shields is joined on the Chiefs by cornerback Eric Warfield, who made four tackles in Sunday's 42-14 win over Houston and Clint Finley, who is currently on the practice squad. Shields is one of eight former Husker offensive linemen in the National Football League, including fellow starters Chris Dishman (Arizona), Dominic Raiola (Detroit) and Zach Wiegert (Houston).

In Seattle, Josh Brown's extra point with one minute remaining helped the Seahawks to a 24-23 win over St. Louis. Brown, only the third kicker ever drafted by Seattle, has been a major part of the Seahawks' quick start, as they are 3-0 for only the third time in club history. A seventh-round draft pick last spring, Brown is 4-of-5 on field goals and has connected on all 11 PATs he has attempted.

The weekend concludes tonight, as the Oakland Raiders, with former Huskers Eric Johnson, John Perrella and Adam Treu, take on the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. A complete rundown of all the Huskers in the NFL is listed below. Currently, a total of 32 former Huskers are on National Football League Rosters.
