Lincoln -- The Nebraska volleyball team moved up two spots from seventh to fifth in this week's USA Today/AVCA Coaches Poll. The Huskers received 1,334 points, 101 points behind fourth-place Stanford but 143 points ahead of sixth-place Northern Iowa. USC held the No. 1 spot and collected all 65 first-place votes. Hawaii and Florida rounded out the top three.
The Huskers jumped past Pepperdine and Minnesota, who were ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, in last week's poll. The Gophers lost all three of the matches they played, and Pepperdine went 2-1 in its opening weekend. NU, meanwhile, posted a 3-0 record, defeating Clemson, Illinois and Illinois State en route to winning the Barker GMC Classic title.
Other teams in the Big 12 moving up in this week's poll included Kansas State, which jumped one spot to 14th, and Missouri, which is tied for 18th, its highest ranking ever.
