Lincoln -- The Nebraska football team went through a light one-and-half hour practice in sweats on the FieldTurf in the morning, before greeting Husker fans and signing autographs on Fan Appeciation Day at Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Coach Frank Solich said the Huskers have gone through back-to-back days of light workouts in order to get their legs back before resuming a regular practice schedule next week in preparation for the Oklahoma State game on Aug. 30 in Lincoln.
"I feel very comfortable that going into next week we will be fresh and ready to go through a game-week preparation," Solich said. "Fall camp will take it out of you. The amount of contact that we have had with ones against ones was such that it will wear you down, so it is good for them to get a little bit of a break at this point."
The Huskers will enjoy their first day off from practice on Sunday, since beginning fall camp on Aug. 6. Nebraska student-athletes return for the first day of fall classes at the University on Monday, and the remainder of the Husker football players will be able to report to fall camp.
