Herbie Husker Update

Lincoln -- Herbie Husker has vastly improved on his cardiovascular tests and is making strides in improving his physical appearance and health. Dr. Lonnie Albers, the Nebraska Director of Athletic Medicine said, "Herbie continues to make progress. His health is no longer a serious concern as his blood pressure is now at an acceptable range."

Boyd Epley, Nebraska Director of Athletic Performance said "Herbie has now lost 70 pounds of fat and his physical appearance is noticeably better. In fact, Herbie is feeling so much better that he wanted to get a trim and start working on other areas of his outward appearance."

Herbie recently had an appointment to get his hair cut and styled and at that time, looked at options for a new hair color as well.

Pederson put Herbie on a strict regimen on Feb. 11. The 30-year old mascot has agreed to do his part to get in playing shape, so that he is able to more effectively entertain Husker fans at events. The conditioning plan will update Herbie's physical appearance, so that he will be a mascot that fits the Nebraska image of strength and power.

The next Herbie Husker Report will be issued the first week of May.
