NU's Simpson Named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week

DALLAS -- Nebraska's Richelle Simpson was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the sixth time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday.

The junior had a day of season-bests in the Huskers' win over Iowa State. She recorded her second perfect 10 on the vault while winning that event as well as balance beam (9.975) and floor exercise (9.95). She set a school and Big 12 Conference record with her all-around score of 39.825, topping her own mark of 39.80 recorded at the Masters Classic last month.

Iowa State, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma will compete for the Big 12 Conference title at the Big 12 Championships Saturday in Columbia, Mo. The meet will begin at 7 p.m.
