Husker Soccer Faces Improved Oklahoma Teams

The No. 25 Nebraska soccer team returns from a three-game road trip to wrap up the 2002 regular season at the Abbott Sports Complex. The Huskers face Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Colorado at home before traveling to San Antonio, Texas, in search of the Big 12 Tournament crown.

NU begins its three-game home stretch Friday night at 7 p.m. when it faces the OSU Cowgirls and Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when they take on the OU Sooners.

The broadcast of both games as well as the live stats for each contest can be found on the Nebraska website by clicking on the above links.

The Huskers hold an 11-1-0 combined all-time record against the two Oklahoma schools, with their only loss coming against OU in Norman in 1998, when the Sooners prevailed over Nebraska, 3-1.

Both OSU and OU got its seasons off to a much stronger start than they have in recent seasons. The Cowgirls hold an 11-5-0 season record this year as opposed to the 7-6-0 record they held when facing Nebraska in 2001. Oklahoma is also currently 11-5-0 on the season compared to a 9-3-1 record at this point last year.

OSU and OU have both most recently been shutout by Texas and Texas A&M, both teams that have defeated the Huskers this season. Oklahoma State's Big 12 wins this season have come against Baylor and Texas Tech, while Oklahoma's conference victories have come at the expense of Missouri, Kansas, Texas Tech and Baylor.

Nebraska has bounced back from frustrating losses a few weeks ago to Texas and Texas A&M with four consecutive shutouts, blanking Baylor (4-0), Texas Tech (4-0), Iowa State (2-0), and Memphis (3-0). NU is in a three-way tie for third place in the Big 12 conference race.

After taking on the Oklahoma teams, Nebraska faces Colorado, next Friday, Nov. 1 at the Abbott Sports Complex when it will honor its seniors before traveling to the conference tournament.
