Huskers Set To Host Chip-N Club Invitational

The Nebraska women's golf team will host its annual fall tournament, the Chip-N Club Invitational, next week at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club.

Play begins Monday, Sept. 16, with the first 36 holes, starting with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The final round will be played Tuesday, Sept. 17, starting at 8 a.m. off of the No. 1 and 10 tees.

The par-72 course, which was designed by Jim White, will be spread out over 5,989 yards for the tournament.

Competing in the 14-team field will be Arkansas-Little Rock, Colorado State, Creighton, Denver, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Missouri-Kansas City, Nebraska, Nebraska-Omaha, Northern Iowa, Toledo and Wichita State.

The Chip-N Club Invitational will mark the 11th consecutive season that NU has hosted a fall tournament.

Last season, Kent State captured the team title with a three-round score of 872, while Kent State's Martina Gillen took individual medalist honors.

Senior Sarah Sasse, who sat out last season to improve her swing, will be looking to capture her second Chip-N Club title after winning in 2000.

Sasse is coming off a record-setting performance last week at the season-opening Ram Fall Classic where she set school records for 36 and 54-hole scores, finishing the tournament at 7-under-par.
