A late afternoon MRI confirmed that Nebraska senior nose tackle Jason Lohr tore his left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Friday's scrimmage. Lohr had torn his left lateral collateral ligament (LCL) against Notre Dame last September. He was granted a medical hardship for 2001 and was looking forward to repeating his senior season in 2002. Lohr, who has not redshirted, is expected to undergo surgery within the next two weeks.
About the loss of Lohr, Coach Solich said, "The injury to Jason is extremely disappointing news to Jason personally and also to the program and the team. He is an outstanding player who had an injury last year which took him out of three-fourths of the season. Then to have yet another injury take him out of this season, I'm sure is devastating for him. We all feel for Jason, he is an excellent player and team leader."
