Five Huskers Named To Academic All-District Track and Field Team

Lincoln, Neb.----- Five Huskers were named to the 2001-02 Verizon Academic All-District VII Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Team.

Senior multi-event athlete Katherine Livesey, senior distance runner Jenna Lucas and senior thrower Melissa Price were all named to the first team, while senior middle distance runner Elizabeth Vacek and junior sprinter Cheryl Harmon were selected for the second team. Ten individuals from across the nation were named to each team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

In order to be nominated for the team, athletes had to have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and have completed at least one full academic year at their institution. Nominated athletes also must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's meets.

Livesey, Lucas and Price will all move onto the national ballot where Verizon Academic All-America teams will be decided on and released Thursday, June 20.
