Marsden Earns Big 12 Honor

Dallas - University of Nebraska sophomore Aaron Marsden (Grand Forks, N.D./Red River) was selected Monday as the Big 12 Conference co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Kansas last Friday.

The left-hander fired a complete-game three hitter in No. 15 Nebraska's 4-0 win over the Jayhawks, striking out six in a 101-pitch effort. Marsden didn't walk a batter en route to his second complete-game shutout of the season, tying for the league lead in that category. On the season, he is 5-1 with a Big 12 leading 1.39 ERA in 58.1 innings of work, as he has not allowed more than three runs in any of his seven starts. In Big 12 play, the Grand Forks, N.D., native ranks second in the league with five wins, while leading all starters in innings pitched (56.2), ERA (1.39) and opponent batting average (.184).

The honor marks the second time that Marsden was selected as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week this season and the fifth time that a Nebraska pitcher earned or shared the conference's award. He shared the conference award with Kansas' Dan Olson, who earned the win for the Jayhawks in Kansas' 14-3 win over the Huskers on Sunday.

The Huskers (32-15) return to action Tuesday evening when they host Wichita State (32-10) at Hawks Field. First pitch between the Huskers and Shockers is set for 6:35 p.m.
