Huskers Keep NCAA Hopes Alive

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The 58th-ranked Nebraska women's tennis team kept is NCAA tournament hopes alive with a hard fought 4-3, victory upsetting 45th-ranked Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. The win raised the Huskers record to 13-6 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

Senior Katarina Balan led Nebraska, at the No. 2 singles spot defeated Annette Bryntesson, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Sophomores Leslie and Rebecca Harvey and Rose Ketmayura all notched victories for the Huskers. Senior Amy Frisch dropped her match, 6-2, 6-3 to Bethany Griffin. Freshman Gitte Ostermann playing in her first match since injuring her wrist retired to Anda Perianu after winning the first set 6-1.

In doubles action, Oklahoma took the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Nebraska did secure a victory at the No. 2 spot led by sophomore Anne Oehme and Ketmayura, defeated Jessica Braver and Bryntesson, 9-7.
