Lincoln -- The 52rd-ranked women's tennis team lost to Texas A&M, 6-1, to drop to 8-3 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12 Conference. No. 25 Texas A&M, improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
The Huskers were led by 57th ranked Gitte Ostermann who defeated Jessica Roland, 3-6, 6-2, (10-8) at the No. 1 singles. Ostermann teamed up with Katarina Balan at the No. 1 doubles to defeated 14th-ranked Ashley Hedberg and Roland, 8-4.
Balan lost to Oilvia Karlikova at the No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. No. 3 singles, Leslie Harvey lost to Majorie Terburgh, 6-3, 6-3. No. 4 singles, Amy Frisch lost to Ashley Hedberg, 2-6, 6-2, (11-9). No. 5 singles, Rose Ketmayura lost to Martina Nedorostova, 6-2, 5-7, (11-9). No. 6 singles, Rebecca Harvey lost to Roberta Spencer, 6-4, 6-1
In doubles action, No. 2 team of L. Harvey and Ketmayura lost to Karlikova and Nedorostova, 8-3. No. 3 doubles, Stacey Tomkiewicz and Anne Oehme lost to Spencer and Majorie, 8-6.
Nebraska returns to action on Monday, March 18, 2002 when the travel to Newport Beach, Calif. to take on Connecticut.
