Lincoln -- The 54th-ranked women's tennis team defeated Wyoming 6-1 behind a pair of wins from sophomore Leslie Harvey. The Huskers improved to 4-1 on the season while Wyoming drops to 0-3.
In No. 3 singles, Harvey defeated Jennifer Hancock, 6-3, 6-1. At. No. 2 doubles, Harvey teamed up with Rose Ketmayura to defeat Yuliani Santi and Raulina Del Monte, 8-4.
"I played pretty good today, a lot better than I have been the past couple of matches." Harvey said. "We started out a little slow in doubles but picked up our play in singles matches."
No. 1 singles, Katalina Balan defeated Jenny Bowan, 6-2, 6-4 to improve to 4-1 on the season. Amy Frisch lost to Santi at the No. 2 singles spot, 3-6, 6-3, (10-7). Sophomore Anne Oehme, playing in the No. 4 spot, defeated Del Monte 6-2, 6-4. No. 5 Rose Ketmayura and No. 6 Stacey Tomkiewicz both earned wins defeating Toni Terharr and Ivan Milosevic, 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively.
In doubles action, No. 1 Balan and Frisch lost to Bowman and Hancock, 8-6. At No. 3, Tomkiewicz and Oehme defeated Terharr and Milosevic, 8-2.
"We came out with a lot more energy in the singles matches after the doubles." Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. "Tomorrow we are going to need all the energy we can get when we face Southwest Missouri State."
