Minneapolis -- Sophomore diver Jerilyn Drummond placed ninth on the one-meter (227.35) to pace the Nebraska swimming and diving team in day one of the Minnesota Invitational. Drummond, who competed despite suffering a recent back injury, just missed making the finals of the first meet of the young season as only the top eight performers advanced.
Also competiting for the Huskers, junior Susan Walker finished the 500-yard free preliminary in 5:10.31 to place 35th out of 70 competitors.
Notre Dame, ranked No. 15 nationally, sits in first place with 308 points, while Wisconsin is second (295) and Minnesota is third (183) after the first day of the 10-team meet.
