Anderson Becomes NU's All-Time Leading Scorer in Win Over OU

Norman, Okla. -- Senior midfielder Meghan Anderson became the Husker's career all-time leading scorer with a goal, as the fifth-ranked Nebraska soccer team defeated Oklahoma, 2-0, before a crowd of 641 at the OU Soccer Complex on Sunday. The Huskers improved to 12-2-0 overall and 6-1-0 in the Big 12 Conference, while the Sooners fell to 9-4-1 and 3-3-1.

Anderson weaved through traffic in the top of the penalty area and fired Nebraska's first goal into the top right corner of the net at 3:43. The goal pushed Anderson's career total to 128 points, moving her ahead of Lindsay Eddleman (127 points) to the top of NU's all-time scoring chart.

"It's nice to sit atop some good company," Anderson said. "We all know that it will be shattered pretty soon, but it's an honor. I'm sitting among some of the top forwards to ever play here."

Senior midfielder Shannon Tanaka and junior forward Christine Latham earned assists on Anderson's goal. Latham upped her career total to 115 points. The Hermann Trophy nominee has scored a team-high 29 points on 11 goals and seven assists. Anderson ranked second on the squad with 16 points on five goals and six assists.

Nebraska scored it's second goal at 77:40 when senior forward Najah Williams put the ball off an Sooner defender and into the top right corner of the net, following a scramble in the box. The goal was Williams' second of the season.

Husker first-year goalkeeper Erin Miller, a sophomore, recorded four saves en route to recording her fourth shutout of the season.

NU outshot Oklahoma 28-5, and outcornered the Sooners, 5-2.

Oklahoma sophomore forward Logan Womack took the Sooners lone shot on goal in the first half at 7:30. OU fired three shots, all on goal, in the second half. Nebraska recorded 10 shots on goal.

In seven previous contests, Oklahoma had not surrendered a goal at home this season.

The Huskers will travel to Portland, Ore., Tuesday to face 11th - ranked Portland in a 2:30 p.m. contest on Tuesday.
