Owusu Wins 400 Meters at Norwich Union World Trials

Birmingham, England -- Competing for the Windsor, Slough and Eton Athletic Club, Nebraska sprinter Lesley Owusu won the 400-meters at the Norwich Union World Trials on July 15 with an outdoor personal-best time of 52.27. British Olympian Donna Fraser placed second in the event with a time of 52.57.

Owusu was selected to compete for Great Britain at the World Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Edmonton, Canada, Aug. 3-12.

At the Norwich Union British Grand Prix on July 22, Owusu finished sixth (52.98).

Owusu, who will be a senior for the Huskers next outdoor season, is a four-time All-American. As an indoor senior in 2000, Owusu placed second in the 400 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 52.49. Her personal-best 400-meter time came on Feb. 24, when she won the Big 12 indoor title with a time of 52.37.
