Waco, Texas -- The Nebraska men's tennis team had its season ended by No. 21 Texas, 4-0, Friday in Waco, Texas.
"It was a hard fought match," Head Coach Kerry McDermott said. "The score doesn't show the true outcome of the match. We could have easily won the match 4-3, but give Texas credit. They played better down the stretch."
NU dropped two out of three doubles matches to give the Longhorns a 1-0 lead. At the No. doubles spot, Jorge Abos Sanchez and Adnan Hedzialic were defeated by No. 30 Jean Simon and Ron Klopper, 8-4.
In singles play, Texas picked up three wins and the match was called. NU's Ryan Haith gave a great effort, taking Michael Domanski into three sets, losing 6-3, 1-6, 4-6, at the No. 5 spot, while Ron Klopper defeated Kai Rieke, 7-6, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot.
The Huskers end the 2001 season 9-14.
