Huskers Finish Fifth at Big 12 Championship

Harvester, Iowa–The 34th-ranked Nebraska women’s golf team took fifth place at the Big 12 Championship Wednesday in Harvester, Iowa. Junior Sarah Sasse finished one shot off the pace of the leaders to finish fourth.

Oklahoma State took the team title, led by individual champion Maria Boden. Boden rolled in a 25-foot putt on the first hole of the three-way playoff, which included Ameila Moses of Missouri and Lisa Meldrum of Oklahoma at 11-over-par.

Sasse, who was named to the All-Big 12 first team for the second time in her career Wednesday, started the day in a tie for second and topped the leaderboard after her first nine holes, which included an eagle on the par-five fourth. But after a two-over score of 38 on the back side, the Lincoln High product fell one shot short of the three-way tie for first.
