Norman, Okla.–The 34th-ranked Nebraska women’s golf team finished third at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic Tuesday at Jimmie Austin G.C. in Norman, Okla., marking its second highest finish of the season. It was also NU’s ninth top-10 finish in 10 tournaments this season.
Oklahoma took the team title with a three-round total of 883, which was 19 shots better than second place Texas Tech. Topping the individual standings was Tech’s Stephanie Dukes with an eight-under-par score of 208.
Senior Amy Roux and juniors Sarah Sasse and Amanda Sutcliffe all fired final-round 75s to lead the Husker charge up the leaderboard. Sasse finished eighth with a three-round score of 224, marking her fifth top-10 finish of the year. Roux’s three-round score of 227 was good enough for a tie for 14th, while Sutcliffe finished in a tie for 17th with a three-round total of 228.
Also posting a solid final round was sophomore Amanda Krane, who carded a five-over-par 77, finishing in a tie for 32nd. Rounding out NU’s scoring was junior Catha Fogelberg, who shot an 82 en route to a 52nd-place finish.
“We played much better today,” Head Coach Robin Krapfl said. “We had three solid rounds and the difference between winning was just making our putts. I am happy with the improvements since the last tournament.”
With the Big 12 Championships up next for the Huskers on April 23-35 in Ames, Iowa, NU appears to be hitting its stride at the right time.
