Huskers finish tied for 10th at Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic

Athens, Ga.–The 32nd-ranked Nebraska women’s golf team finished in a tie for 10th place at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic Sunday at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga.

Taking the team title was top-ranked Duke with a three-round score of 902, while Georgia was 11 shots off the pace in second. A Blue Devil also took the individual title as Kalen Anderson fired a final round 73 for a three-round score of 221.

Although the Huskers finished in the top-10 for the eighth time in nine tries, NU suffered through its two highest single round scores of the season, including a final round 324.

NU’s only sub-80 round of the day came from junior Sarah Sasse, who carded a four-over 76 to finish in a tie for 17th place. Senior Amy Roux shot an eight-over 80, which was good enough for a tie for 34th.

Juniors Amanda Sutcliffe and Catha Fogelberg both struggled with rounds of 84, finishing in ties for 39th and 63rd, respectively. Sophomore Amanda Krane rounded out NU’s scoring with an 89.

Nebraska will return to the links April 9-10 in Norman, Okla., for the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in its final tune-up before the Big 12 Championships April 23-25 in Ames, Iowa.
