Huskers Finish Sixth at Betsy Rawls Invite

Austin, Texas – The Nebraska women’s golf team finished in sixth-place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic in Austin, Texas, Wednesday. NU’s team total after the three-day event was 916, placing them three strokes behind fifth-place Purdue.

Tennesse won the meet shooting a 899, six strokes in front of TCU and host school, Texas. Tennessee’s Young-A Yang won the individual title, shooting a two-over par 218.

Leading the way for the Huskers was junior Sarah Sasse. Sasse, a Lincoln native, could not hold onto a second round lead, falling into fifth place with a six-over 78.

Senior Amy Roux shot a one-over 73 to finish in a tie for 29th-place, while junior Amanda Sutcliffe earned a tie for 32nd with a three-day score of 235. Fellow junior Catha Fogelberg also posted a final round score of 79, which was good enough for a tie for 36th.

“Amy had a really good day,” Head Coach Robin Krapfl said. “We played solid but the putts that fell yesterday, didn’t fall today.”

Sophomore Amanda Krane struggled in the final round, carding a final-round 85. Playing as individuals, freshman Maria Rosario Gomez and sophomore Stephanie Schaefer posted third round scores of 85 and 88, respectively.
