Top-ranked Oklahoma handed No. 11 Nebraska its second defeat of the weekend, with a convincing 215.00-200.950 victory in Norman Sunday afternoon. The Sooners won all six event titles, sweeping the top six places on the final two events, and bettering 215 for the third straight meet. With the loss, Nebraska falls to 3-3 on the season, while the Sooners improve to 6-1.
The Huskers started off a little shaky on pommel horse, scoring a season-low 32.35, and found themselves trailing the Sooners by nearly three points after the first event. One bright spot for the Huskers was senior Jason Hardabura, who recorded his first 9.0 of the season on pommel horse, to finish tied for second with Oklahoma's David Johnston.
Down but not out, Nebraska rebounded with a season-high 34.800 on floor, however the Sooners produced their highest pommel horse score of the season to extend their lead to 70.60-67.15. On floor, Nebraska received its best scores from a pair of freshmen. Steven Friedman (Johannesburg, South Africa) earned his highest finish this season, placing second with an 8.90, while Josh Rasile (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished fourth with an 8.85.
OU continued its dominance in the third rotation, posting a season-high rings score of 36.30, while the Huskers placed two athletes in the top five on vault. Rasile posted a 9.0, to tie with Hardabura and Oklahoma's Josh Landis for second place.
With Nebraska's depth on rings, it looked as if it might be able to chip away at the Sooner lead, but it wasn't to be, as Oklahoma increased its lead to 142.85-136.85. Senior Grant Clinton led Nebraska on rings with a fourth-place finish (8.65).
Oklahoma ran away from the Huskers in the final two rotations, claiming the top six finishes with season-high scores on both the parallel bars (35.35) and horizontal bar (36.80).
Individually, Hardabura produced his second runner-up finish in the all-around in as many meets, scoring a 51.300. It was also the first time this season the Oakville, Ontario, native has produced two 9.0s in the same meet. He recorded 9.0s on pommel horse and vault to earn runner-up finishes on both events.
The Huskers return home to face Air Force March 4, at 2 p.m., at the Devaney Center.
