Roux Shoots Even-Par on Final Day of Midwest Classic

Dallas, Texas – Senior Amy Roux carded an even-par 72 on the final day of the Midwest Classic in Dallas, Texas, Sunday to lead the Nebraska women’s golf team. As a team, NU finished 11th with a final-round 315, while Oklahoma State took the team title with a three-round total of 906.

Roux, who struggled during the first two days of the tournament with scores of 83 and 81, bounced back today using two chip-ins and only 23 putts to finish in a tie for 30th.

After starting the day in a tie for fourth and only four shots off the lead, junior Sarah Sasse stumbled, shooting a nine-over 81 to fall into a tie for 14th.

Junior Catha Fogelberg shot her second-consecutive 80, leaving her in a tie for 38th, while junior Amanda Sutcliffe fired a final-round 82, which was good enough for a 67th-place finish.

Despite finishing outside of the top-10 for the first time in the 2000-01 season, Head Coach Robin Krapfl was pleased with her team’s play today.

“We played hard,” Krapfl said. “We fought the whole way around. The more we get out and play, the better we are going to be.”

NU’s next action comes March 12-14 at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas.
