For the first time this season, the Nebraska men's cross country team has earned a national ranking. Thanks in large part to a 16th-place finish at the Pre-NCAA meet on Saturday, the Huskers cracked the latest poll at No. 23. After receiving 24 votes last week, the most of any unranked team, Nebraska received 46 points in the MONDO poll released Tuesday.
In what was viewed as a preview of the national meet, Nebraska joined 13 of the top ranked teams in the nation in Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Memorial Classic on Saturday. The Huskers collected 533 points to earn a 16th-place finish.
Nebraska is off this week, but returns to action Oct. 28 for the Big 12 Championships in Boulder, Colo., where the Huskers will look to improve on last year's sixth-place finish.
