Huskers Set to Open Outdoor Season at Texas A&M Invite

Lincoln -- The Nebraska track & field team will travel to College Station, Texas, this weekend as the Huskers open their season at the Texas A&M Multis and Invite.

"Traditionally, it's a meet to get the outdoor season started," Nebraska Head Coach Gary Pepin said. "It's especially important to get some meet action for those who haven't competed yet in events like the javelin, the hammer throw, the discus, the heptathlon and decathlon."

The NU women are looking to improve on a fourth-place finish at last year's Big 12 Outdoor Championships and a 14th-place finish at the NCAA outdoor meet. The Husker men hope to take back the outdoor conference title from Texas after finishing second to the Longhorns last season. The Nebraska men finished 58th at the NCAA outdoor meet.
