Lincoln -- University of Nebraska senior Charlie Rogers claimed a spot as a 2000 GTE/CoSIDA Second-Team Academic All-District VII selection when all-district teams were announced on Thursday, Feb. 24.
Rogers, a 6-2 forward/center from South Sioux City, Neb., owns a 3.76 grade-point average as an elementary education major at Nebraska. She has started all 25 games for the Huskers this season and ranks as the Huskers' top rebounder and third-leading scorer. Rogers is averaging 9.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game for the 14-11 Huskers, who are 8-6 in Big 12 play.
Rogers ranks 10th all-time at Nebraska with 620 career rebounds and needs just 56 points to become the 20th player in Husker history to reach the 1,000-point barrier for her career. She also ranks second all-time at Nebraska with 119 career blocked shots. Rogers is a three-time first-team academic All-Big 12 pick and could earn her fourth academic All-Big 12 award later this season.
Rogers is one of four Husker seniors who will be honored before Nebraska's final home game of the season against Kansas State on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 7:05 p.m.. Nicole Kubik, Brooke Schwartz and Naciska Gilmore will also be honored during Senior Night activities at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
