NU Picks Up Road Victory at Baylor

Waco, Texas -- The Nebraska women's basketball team picked up an important road win, defeating Baylor, 82-71, Saturday evening. The Huskers, who improved to 13-11 overall and 7-6 in the Big 12, were led by senior guard Brooke Schwartz, who scored 14 of her 18 points in the second half after NU took a 36-32 halftime lead. She also finished with a game-high seven assists and was 7-of-8 from the foul line.

The Huskers, who moved into sixth place in the Big 12 after Iowa State's win over Missouri, also received solid performances from Charlie Rogers, Nicole Kubik and Melody in the win. Kubik finished with 15 points, six rebounds and a four of Nebraska's 13 steals. Rogers, a 6-2 forward was 7-of-11 from the floor and finished with 16 points and eight rebounds in just 24 minutes, while Peterson totaled 14 points, a career-high nine rebounds and four steaks.

"We're starting to play better basketball," said NU Coach Paul Sanderford, whose squad has three regular-season games remaining. "We were very unselfish in the second half, and I am happy any time you get a road win in the Big 12."

The Huskers shot 50.8 percent and out-rebounded Baylor (6-17, 1-12 Big 12)43-34.

Nebraska returns home Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. game against Oklahoma State at the Devaney Center.
