Red Raiders Nip Huskers

Lubbock, Texas -- Nebraska gave No. 12 Texas Tech all they could handle for 40 minutes before the Huskers fell, 66-62, to the Red Raiders in front of 12,724 fans at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock , Texas, Wednesday evening.

With the win, Texas Tech improves to 20-3 on the season and 9-3 in Big 12 play, moving into a three way tie with Iowa State and Kansas, one game behind Oklahoma. The Red Raiders overcame an eight-point second half deficit to drop Nebraska to 12-11 overall and 6-6 in the Big 12.

Charlie Rogers led three Huskers in double figures with 14 points and five rebounds, while Nicole Kubik and Melody Peterson added 13 and 10 points, respectively. Kubik also had eight rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in a losing effort.

After Nebraska built an eight-point lead, Texas Tech came back as the game was tied eight times, the last at 57-all with 3:51 remaining. The Huskers could only manage one field goal, a 3-pointer by junior Melody Peterson, in the final four minutes of the contest as the Red Raiders remained undefeated at home this season.

The Red Raiders placed four players in double figures, led by Aleah Johnson's 18 points. Keitha Dickerson had 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Plenette Pierson and Katrissa O'Neal each added 10.

The Huskers return to action this Saturday, Feb. 19, as the Huskers travel to Waco, Texas, to take on the Baylor Bears at 7 p.m.
