Lincoln--The Nebraska women's tennis team fell short in it's bid to upset ninth ranked Texas at the Woods Tennis Center. Texas defeated the Huskers 6-3 to continue their 98 game conference winning streak.
Senior Sandra Noetzel, one of two Huskers to claim victory in singles action, upset Michelle Faucher 6-1, 6-4, who was preseason ranked 28th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The victory was Noetzel's 86th career victory, which is an on going team record. In Nebraska's only other singles victory Katarina Balan defeated Texas's JoAnne Masongsong 6-4, 7-5.
In doubles action Nebraska's duo of Noetzel and Pelazini upset Texas's Smashey and Walker 9-8, who were preseason ranked 25th by the ITA.
Nebraska will return to action Tuesday, Feb. 15, when the Huskers play host to the Creighton Bluejays at the Woods Tennis Center beginning at 3 p.m.
