Cyclones Get the Best of Huskers

Ames, Iowa -- Marcus Fizer scored 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds as 21st-ranked Iowa State pulled away in the second half for an 87-65 victory over Nebraska in a Big 12 Conference matchup Saturday evening in Ames, Iowa.

Iowa State (21-3, 9-1 Big 12) led 38-34 at halftime but opened the second half with a 28-7 run and pulled away en route to remaining in a first-place tie with Oklahoma State. The win was the 1,000th in school history for ISU and was their 18th victory in the past 19 games.

Larry Florence scored 16 points for Nebraska, which has dropped three straight to fall to 10-13 overall and 3-7 in league play. Danny Walker and Steffon Bradford finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the Huskers dropped their ninth straight road game dating back to last season .

The Huskers return to action Monday evening when NU takes on No. 16 Oklahoma, beginning at 8:05 p.m. The game will be televised nationally by espn2.
