Huskers Fall at Regionals

Des Moines, Iowa -- The Nebraska men's tennis team closed out its fall season at the 1999 Region V Team Championships at Drake University Oct. 19. The Huskers lost to their opening round opponent, Indiana State, 4-0. Junior Kai Rieke (Nordhorn, Germany) played NU's toughest singles match, battling ISU's Stefan Hirn for three sets. NU's new No. 2 doubles team of senior Andrew Wiese (Flushing Hills, N.Y) and Lance Mills (Omaha, Neb.) also came close to pulling out a victory, but fell to ISU's Hirn and Choi 8-6.

The Huskers begin regular-season play Jan. 21-23 at the Rice University Invitational in Houston, Texas. Nebraska plays two tournaments and a match on the road before opening its home schedule Feb. 11 when it plays host to Texas A&M in a 6 p.m. match at Woods Tennis Center.
